Discussion about hypothetical future where MS Agent never got phased out
While thinking what to post this idea came up in my head, what if Microsoft Agent never got phased out by Microsoft and TO THIS DAY Microsoft would be still working on it? Would it be one of the few decent Microsoft products? Would it be another case of stuffing copilot and making it soulless? Would it consist of ONLY AI? Would it be bland and corporate? I don't know, and this is why I made my thread so we can discuss how would MSAgent be like if it somehow still survived

With the things Microsoft is doing as of now, it likely would've been ruined by Copilot. After all, Windows was a good OS back when it was in its XP and 7 days, but it started going downhill once Windows 8 was released, with us now ending up with an OS practically filled with AI slop and random advertising garbage nobody wants.Tbes2009 wrote: Sat Feb 14, 2026 8:50 pm While thinking what to post this idea came up in my head, what if Microsoft Agent never got phased out by Microsoft and TO THIS DAY Microsoft would be still working on it? Not to mention, Microsoft Agent was the second major virtual assistant software released by Microsoft, with the third being Cortana and the fourth being Copilot. If it wasn't discontinued, it would've likely become how Cortana was in 2015 to 2020, and afterwards, like how Copilot is in late 2023 to now. Hell, if you look at Microsoft Agent in Windows Vista, you can already see some modernization in it with it using SAPI 5.3 voices instead of SAPI 4.0.
While yes, it's sad Microsoft Agent got discontinued, it's probably for the better...

I DO have to agree, and yes, if it survived it would be copilot shit, anyways it's good it got phased out, but it would be interesting to see modern day MS AgentMadCreeper7611 wrote: Sat Feb 14, 2026 9:53 pmWith the things Microsoft is doing as of now, it likely would've been ruined by Copilot. If MS Agent was still updated, then they would have to pull some AI Bullshit onto it. and Nobody, i mean NO ONE would want that.MadCreeper7611 wrote: Sat Feb 14, 2026 9:53 pmWith the things Microsoft is doing as of now, it likely would've been ruined by Copilot. Better for Microsoft Agent to have ended early and remain great than for it to be continued and turn into AI or some other slop.Tbes2009 wrote: Sat Feb 14, 2026 8:50 pm With the things Microsoft is doing as of now, it likely would've been ruined by Copilot.

Re: Discussion about hypothetical future where MS Agent never got phased out
Plus if MS Agent was still around we wouldn't have the characters we know and love, PLUS they could be even worse, likely AI generated
Re: Discussion about hypothetical future where MS Agent never got phased out
also, most characters COULD use fluent design, but knowing Microsoft they would likely be, again, AI generatedTbes2009 wrote: Sat Feb 14, 2026 8:50 pm While thinking what to post this idea came up in my head, what if Microsoft Agent never got phased out by Microsoft and TO THIS DAY Microsoft would be still working on it?
